Child, Family & Individual
Psychotherapy
Thank you for your inquiry about my psychotherapy practice. In my practice I see children as individuals and with parents as well as adults individually. I have an extensive background working with children as a former public and private school teacher. I have taught Reflective Parenting classes and worked with the UW Infant Mental Health Program in their research with Promoting First Relationships. Working with children and their parents has taught me that the caregiver/child relationship is of primary importance in therapy. I often see parents and children together to care for the relationship between them. I feel that children thrive or recover through a parent or caregiver holding them in their mind and in their heart. Adults need the same or similar connection, and in therapy I seek to provide a safe environment and relationship so that the client feels heard and connected.
If we value our children, we must cherish their parents.

I have had experience with death and dying patients through hospice and with bereaved families. We experience so many losses and changes throughout our lives that sometimes we try to minimize their importance. But most of us find that the only way to deal with grief is finding a safe way to feel how we feel.
How you are is as important as what you do.
